Managed AWS Hosting

Managed AWS Hosting

Summary: This page describes how we host and operate applications on Amazon Web Services. It is for companies whose application already runs on AWS, or has a reason to.

Most of our hosting runs on Microsoft Azure. We host on AWS when a client’s application is already there, when it depends on AWS services, or when the client’s own policies call for it. The service is the same either way: one team accountable for the environment and the code.

A free review of your current hosting. Tell us what runs on AWS today and who set it up. We read your setup and tell you what we would change, with no obligation. Or call (206) 325-5383.

What We Run on AWS

AIMS, the inspection management system we built for Allegiant Commercial Asset Services Group, runs on a three-server AWS environment that we set up and operate.

If your organization requires AWS, we set up the environment for you and run it the same way.

We also use Amazon SES for transactional email across client sites, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC records configured so messages reach inboxes.

What Is Included Every Month

  • The platform. Your application runs on Amazon Web Services, on infrastructure we size to what your traffic needs.
  • Database backups. We can restore your database to any point in the last 14 days. Weekly backups are kept for four weeks and monthly backups for four months.
  • File backups. Uploaded files and images held on a file share are backed up daily.
  • Your application code. It is redeployed from source control, so a rebuild does not depend on a server copy.
  • Monitoring that reads the page. A site can answer “OK” while showing visitors an error. Our checks confirm the page contains what it should, raise an alert when it does not, and restart the application automatically.
  • Load alerts. We are alerted by email and text when processor, memory or database load stays high.
  • A monthly malware scan. Every site is scanned each month for malware and card skimmers and compared against a known-good copy.
  • Platform patching. The servers are kept patched. We handle updates to your application.
  • A firewall at the edge, where it fits. A web application firewall that blocks known attack patterns before they reach your site is available.

What Is Billed Separately

  • Changes to your site’s code or content.
  • Work caused by a sustained increase in traffic, or by an attack on your site.
  • Security audits and penetration testing, which are a separate engagement with their own scope.

How Support Works

We respond during Pacific business hours. Outside those hours alerts still reach us, and response is slower. A staging copy is set up when a change needs testing before it goes live.

FAQ

Should my application be on AWS or Azure?

If it already runs well on one, stay there. For a new .NET application or store we usually recommend Azure, because that is where most of our hosting and tooling is. We will tell you if we think a move is not worth the cost.

Can you take over an AWS environment someone else built?

Yes. We start with an inventory of what is running, what it costs each month, and who holds the account.

Who holds the AWS account?

We do. The environment runs in an account we manage, so billing, access and monitoring sit with one team. If your organization needs the account in its own name, tell us at the start and we will set it up that way.

Is pricing published?

Hosting is quoted, because it depends on what your application needs. WordPress care plans have published monthly prices.
